Buk-M3 missiles destroy mock enemy aircraft in Astrakhan region

MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Troops from the 20th combined-arms army fired Buk-M3 missile systems against mock enemy aircraft during an exercise in the Astrakhan Region, the Western Military District stated on Tuesday.

"The operators of the Buk-M3 system were put on mock alert and marched around three kilometers. In the process of detecting air targets, the crews immediately located targets simulating 'enemy' helicopters and aircraft at up to 70 kilometers, with the air targets maneuvering within a range of one to 35 kilometers in various strata of the atmosphere," the statement reads.

In all, the crews carried out over 100 drills and two tactical exercises in day and nighttime involving live missile launches, the press service said.
