MINSK. Oct 2 (Interfax) - A military attache at the Russian Embassy to Belarus, Roman Spiridonov, has completed his mission and has returned to Russia, the embassy's press service Alexei Maskalev said.
"As far as I am aware, there is nothing unusual about it. This is our normal, regular staff situation," Maskalev told Interfax on Wednesday.
"Further inquiries should probably be made with the Defense Ministry," he said.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry declined to comment.
Earlier, social media websites said that Spiridonov had left Minsk ostensibly "at the request of the Belarusian side."
