VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Smerch small missile ship equipped with Uran cruise missiles has completed tests after backfitting and has rejoined the Russian Pacific Fleet, the Russian Eastern Military District's press service for the Pacific Fleet said on Thursday.
The Northeast Repair Center in Kamchatka initiated on the ship's upgrade in 2017.
"The ship of this project became the Navy's first ship to switch from the Malakhit missile complex to the Uran anti-ship cruise missile system. All of the ship's individual systems and mechanisms were upgraded or replaced by more advanced ones," it said.
The Smerch arrived in Primorye in July, where it had some of its artillery systems replaced at the Dalzavod Ship Repair Center. The ship debuted at Russian Navy Day festivities in Vladivostok after the upgrade.
During its performance tests at sea this fall, the ship fired Uran cruise missiles for the first time and tested its self-defense anti-aircraft missile system and new artillery systems.
The Smerch will continue serving in the northeast of Russia, the press service said.
