Six-nation Echelon 2019 exercise held near Nizhny Novgorod

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Troops from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are holding the Echelon 2019 joint exercise in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The exercise involving around 900 troops and over 250 units of equipment is taking place on October 8-10, the press service of Russia's Western Military District said.

"Servicemen of the six countries are drilling logistic support to the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force in preparing and conducting a joint operation during the exercise," the press service said.

In particular, the servicemen practiced new methods of unloading trains with equipment at the Mulino range, which cut offloading times to a fifth. The troops also set up a field artillery depot and delivered over 50 tonnes of ammunition there.

The troops also restored rail tracks 'destroyed' by the imaginary enemy and repaired 'damaged' armor.
