MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - Russian special services do not possess trustworthy information as to who attacked the Saudi Aramco oil facilities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"I asked the heads of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Defense the very next day. We do not know. I will refrain from any further comments as to who should know in order not to hurt anyone's feelings, but I can say that we do not have any definitive information regarding the incident," Putin said in an interview with RT Arabic, Sky News, and Al Arabiya, which is available on the Kremlin website.
He reiterated Moscow's position on the attack that "it is counter-productive to put the blame on someone before finding out exactly who was behind the incident."
Actions like the attacks on Saudi oil facilities "never yield any results for anyone, including those who plot and execute them," he said.
"If someone may have wanted to deal a blow to the oil market, they failed. There were indeed some fluctuations in prices, but I do not think it was anything too serious, even though the initial response was quite strong. The prices went back to normal in the very first week, because the fundamental factors that the market depends on will never allow the prices to either skyrocket or take a nosedive," he said.
