MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - The Interaction 2019 command-post exercise of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region following completion of the redeployment of troops involved in the maneuvers, the press service for Russia's Western Military District said in a statement.
"Military contingents from Belarus have arrived in Russia for the exercise with their standard firearms and military hardware. The other foreign training participants from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan will receive firearms and hardware from the Russian side," the statement said.
Some 3,000 troops and over 300 weapons and items of military equipment will be deployed in the exercise conducted on the Mulino firing range. Western Military District Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Zhuravlyov leads the exercise.
Infrastructure has been fully set up and all necessary conditions have been created for comfortable stay of the Russian and foreign training participants and their high-quality training in the combat training center of the Western Military District in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the statement said.
