Ukrainian nationalists march in Kyiv in protest against Donbas special status

KYIV. Oct 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian nationalists have gathered for a protest march in the center of Kyiv on Monday, on the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (banned in Russia).

The protesters are marching under the motto 'We Shall Defend Ukrainian Soil' against the possible implementation of the legislation on Donbas's special status envisioned by the so-called Steinmeier formula recently agreed upon in Minsk and against the sale of Ukrainian agricultural lands.

The organizers from the Svoboda association said at least 10,000 people are taking part in the march. In particular, the participants include members of Svoboda headed by its leader Oleh Tyahnybok, the Right Sector party (banned in Russia), the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, banned in Russia), the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, Tryzub named after Stepan Bandera, and members of the Ukrainian Association of Farmers.

The march started near a monument to poet Taras Shevchenko. The column moved along Shevchenko Boulevard toward Kyiv's main street, Khreshchatyk, from where the demonstrators plan to walk along Instytutska Street and Heavenly Hundred Heroes Alley toward Bankova Street, where the Ukrainian Presidential Office is located.
