MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) -The Russian Supreme Court has reduced the prison sentence of Ukrainian citizen Kostyantyn Davydenko, who is convicted of espionage for the Ukrainian special services, from 10.5 to seven years, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courtroom.
The court ordered that "the sentence given by the Supreme Court of Crimea to Kostyantyn Davydenko be replaced [...] by a seven-year term in a high-security penitentiary," the judge said.
The Russian Supreme Court's latest ruling puts Davydenko's penalty below even the minimum sentence for such crimes, as espionage crimes carry terms from ten to 20 years in prison in Russia.
