Terror group's recruiter from Russia's Tomsk gets 13 years in prison

TOMSK. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Russia's Far East District Military Court has convicted a man from Tomsk of helping Islamic State (ISIL, banned in Russia) and sentenced him to 13 years in a high-security penitentiary, the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) regional branch said.

"The convict personally encouraged other people on the Internet and via the Telegram and WhatsApp messengers to join militants and leave Russia to take part in hostilities [abroad]," the press service said.

The man was charged with publicly calling for terrorist acts, publicly justifying and promoting terrorism, and complicity in terrorism.
