Azerbaijani Air Force commissions radar station meeting NATO standards - Defense Ministry

BAKU. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Defense Minister Col. Gen. Zakir Hasanov has attended the opening ceremony of the command point of a modern multifunctional radar station of the Azerbaijani Air Force, the Defense Ministry press service said.

"The Spanish-made radar station meeting NATO standards is designed to enhance control of the country's airspace and timely detect aerial targets. The infrastructure built here has provided broad conditions for performing combat duties timely and precisely," it said.

The station can be used both in a stationary and mobile mode, depending on tactical conditions, the Ministry said.

"The radar station guarantees the detection and identification of flight parameters, and tracking of such aerodynamic objects as planes, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles," it said.

The same type of a radar station is also used by NATO member states, it said.
