SOCHI. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russian law enforcement agencies have prevented 39 acts of terrorism and stopped the activities of 49 terrorist cells plotting attacks in various parts of the country in 2019, Russian Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov said.
"This year, 39 terror attacks were prevented at the preparatory stage, 32 militants were killed, 679 were detained, and 22 were discouraged from participating in terrorist activity," Bortnikov said at the 18th meeting of security and special services chiefs in Sochi on Wednesday.
He said that the operations of 49 terrorist cells plotting attacks in various Russian regions were stopped.
