Kyiv's demand that DPR, LPR be dissolved does not help fulfill Minsk Agreements - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Kyiv's demand that the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR) be dissolved as a condition of the Minsk Agreements' fulfillment undermines the latter and the process of public consolidation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"There have been many statements of the sort; no one can say whether they help consolidate society and the country on the basis of the Minsk Agreements," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Thursday.

"To our mind, such statements deal a blow to the primary objective of implementing the Minsk Agreements and creating or at least promoting the creation of an atmosphere of confidence between people living in various parts of Ukraine and holding different views on the future of Ukrainian society," she said.
