MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Russian military observers will perform inspection flights over Poland and the United States under the International Treaty on Open Skies, the Russian Armed Forces' official newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda reported on Monday.
"Russia plans to carry out two observation flights over Poland and the U.S. this week under the International Treaty on Open Skies," the newspaper said, citing head of the National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov.
A Russian Antonov An-30B observation aircraft will carry out a monitoring flight over Poland from the Open Skies Warsaw Airport on October 21-25, and its maximum distance will reach 1,400 km.
A Russian Tupolev Tu-154MLK-1 aircraft is scheduled to carry out an observation flight over the U.S. from the Open Skies Great Falls Airport on October 21-26, the article said. The flight will reach a maximum distance of 5,130 km.
"Each of these Russian observation aircraft will perform a flight along a route approved by the monitored side, while specialists of each hosting party will monitor the use of surveillance equipment and the observance of provisions set forth in the treaty," the newspaper said.
