ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Units of a missile formation of Russia's Southern Military District in the North Caucasus were alerted and carried out a kilometers-long march to the area of fulfilling their combat mission in a drill, the district's press service said in a statement.
"The crews of Iskander tactical missile systems of the Southern Military District delivered a mass electronic missile strike on command posts and other mock enemy facilities of strategic significance during the scheduled inspection for the 2019 training year," the statement said.
The crews of Iskander tactical missile systems performed electronic launches on important mock enemy facilities, as well as standard tests to load launchers with missiles in designated positioning areas, it said.
During the march, servicemen additionally drilled rebuffing the attacks of mock enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups and clearing contaminated areas.
About 300 contract servicemen participated and over one hundred units of weaponry and military and special hardware were used in the drills.
