Two Tu-160 bombers to fly to South Africa - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Two Russian strategic bombers will visit South Africa, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"A Russian Aerospace Force group consisting of two [Tupolev] Tu-160 strategic bombers and the military transport aircraft [Ilyushin] Il-62 and [Antonov] An-124 Ruslan will visit the Republic of South Africa," the statement said.

"The aim of the visit is to develop bilateral military cooperation and work out interaction between the Russian Aerospace Force and the South African Air Force. The event will enable the two countries to enhance pilots' combat skills," it said.
