Putin to discuss harsh statements exchanged between U.S., Turkey with Erdogan - Peskov

MOSCOW. Oct 22 (Interfax) - The presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss the harsh statements exchanged between Washington and Ankara, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press on Tuesday.

"You and I have borne witness to the exchange of rather harsh statements between the United States and Turkey, so Putin has things to discuss with his Turkish colleague," Peskov said.

As for Russia's expectations for the Putin-Erdogan talks, Peskov said, "Russia wants to discuss the state of affairs in northeastern Syria, to get a better idea of the ongoing events, to receive information about Turkey's plans, and to compare this information with the general plans of promoting a political settlement process in the Syrian Arab Republic."
