African countries account for up to 40% of Russian arms exports - Shugayev

SOCHI. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Africa buys from 30% - 40% of Russia's total arms exports, the head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Dmitry Shugayev, said.

"It fluctuates from approximately 30 to 40 percent. It varies from year to year," Shugayev told reporters when asked about the proportion of African countries in the total amount of Russian arms exports.

When asked how much arms shipments to Africa can grow, he said, "The figure is fairly large as it is."
