Russia, Turkey to prevent infiltration of terrorists through Turkish-Syrian border - memorandum

SOCHI. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey will take measures to prevent the infiltration of terrorists through the Syrian-Turkish border and will assist safe and voluntary return of refugees, according to a joint memorandum adopted in the wake of negotiations between the Russian and Turkish presidents, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The sides will create a joint monitoring and verification mechanism "to review and coordinate the implementation of this memorandum," the document said.

Putin and Erdogan also promised "to continue work on searching for political settlement of the Syrian conflict within the framework of the 'Astana mechanism' and to support the activity of the Constitutional Committee," it said.
