LUHANSK/KYIV. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces opened fire on the populated area of Zolote-5 in Donbas on Wednesday, damaging a school, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) said.
"Units [of the Ukrainian Armed Forces] again opened fire on the populated area of Zolote-5 at 6:30 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday. School №4 came under fire," the press service for the LPR Prosecutor General's Office said.
No one was hurt in the attacks.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry earlier said illegal military units had breached the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation area nine times since the start of the day as of 12:30 on October 23 and no one had been hurt.
"The enemy has used hand anti-tank grenade launchers and large-caliber guns to open fire on the support points of the JFO units near Luhanske and automatic grenade launchers have been used in attacks near Zaitseve on the Luhansk track today," Defense Ministry spokesperson Maxim Prauta told a briefing in Kyiv. The Ukrainian military also had to respond to one more attack near the settlement of Luhanske after 8:00 a.m., when the enemy used a large-caliber gun, he said.
On the Donetsk track, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the enemy used 122 mm caliber artillery in the Vodyane area, 11 shells exploded on Ukrainian positions. The Ukrainian troops also came under fire from hand anti-tank grenade launchers, machine-guns and firearms near the populated area of Piski.
