MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Prime Minister of Libya's Government of National Accord Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj and Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala to discuss the ongoing military-political and humanitarian situation in Libya, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"During the meeting, which was also attended by Foreign Minister of the [Libyan] Government of National Accord Mohamed Siala, the parties had a frank discussion on the development of the military-political and humanitarian situation in Libya," the ministry said on its website on Thursday.
"The Russian side confirmed its unwavering stance in support of the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Libya and the related objective of uprooting terrorism, which threatens the region of the Middle East and North Africa, in the territory of this country," it said.
"The sides also touched upon some key issues related to Russian-Libyan ties," the ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said later that Bogdanov also met with Abdul Hadi al-Hweij, the minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation of the Libyan east-based interim government, in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi on October 23.
"At the meeting, the sides discussed the military-political and humanitarian situation in Libya. The Russian side confirmed its commitment to further maintaining contacts with all social-political and regional forces of the country in the interests of ensuring the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Libya and facilitating the formation of viable state institutions there," the ministry said.
