Armenia's Defense, Foreign Ministries deny receiving Russian note linked to ORSIS company

YEREVAN. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Armenia's Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry have not received any Russian note related to the Russian weaponry manufacturer ORSIS, representatives of the ministries told Interfax on Thursday.

"I have nothing to say here. Up to date, the Foreign Ministry of Armenia has not received any such document from the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation," Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Nagdalyan told Interfax.

Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan also told Interfax that the Defense Ministry has not received any document related to this matter, either.

According to earlier media reports, Moscow forwarded a note of protest to Yerevan following the disruption of a weapons tender, in which the Russian company ORSIS was taking part, asking Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan to sort out this situation.

Armenia opened a criminal case on negligence in office charges following the disruption of the Armenian Defense Ministry's tender for procuring weapons worth several million U.S. dollars.

Hovhannisyan also said that he could not yet provide any details as a preliminary investigation was still under way.
