Putin blames irresponsible policy of certain countries for Libya situation (Part 2)

SOCHI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The ongoing situation in Libya results from the irresponsible policy of certain countries, which distorted the relevant UN Security Council resolution, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"In my opinion, the ongoing developments are rooted in the irresponsible policy of certain countries, which acted in violation of international law and distorted the UN Security Council resolution on Libya. So we can see the result," Putin said in his comments on the speech of Libyan National Accord Government head Fayez al-Sarraj at the Russia-Africa summit.

Putin wished the soonest restoration of peace, law and order in Libya and expressed confidence that the striving of all conflicting parties to reach an agreement should help rebuild the Libyan statehood.

"All of us will be fostering this process," Putin said.

Moscow "totally rejects any interference in internal affairs of sovereign states under any pretexts," he said.

"We are well aware of the sad consequences of such policy, including from the example of Libya," Putin said.
