TBILISI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The statements made in South Ossetia saying that Georgia is allegedly preparing large-scale provocations on the border are misinformation, the Georgian State Security Service said.
These statements are part of a "misinformation campaign" aimed at justifying South Ossetia's actions on the border in the area of the Georgian village of Chorchana, the State Security Service told reporters on Thursday.
The Georgian authorities are using all leverage to protect the local population in the region, the special service said.
"There is a permanently working hotline and information on the current situation is provided to our international partners in a real time mode," the State Security Service said.
The press service for the South Ossetian State Security Committee said on October 21 the republic's border guard service had unilaterally continued working on installing fences on the division line under the program to revise the state border with Georgia.
