BAKU. Oct 24 (Interfax) - International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer briefed Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov at a meeting in Baku on steps being undertaken with Armenia regarding a possible all-for-all exchange of captives.
At the meeting, Mammadyarov positively assessed the ICRC's work "in the context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh," the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
The minister "underlined the importance of further efforts to secure the release of captives and hostages based on the 'all-for-all' principle," it said.
Maurer, in turn, told Mammadyarov about the relevant work, confirming the ICRC's readiness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in humanitarian affairs.
Azerbaijan's State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons earlier announced Baku's readiness to swap two Armenian citizens currently under arrest in Azerbaijan for Azerbaijani citizens convicted in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
"We stand ready to exchange Karen Kazaryan and Araik Kazaryan for Dilgam Asgarov and Shahzab Guliyev," the commission said.
