Treason suspect arrested in Moscow

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The Moscow Lefortovsky District Court has issued an arrest warrant for a man who was detained in connection with a high treason case in mid October, court press secretary Ksenia Pervovlasenko told Interfax.

"The court has ordered to take Alexei Vasilyevich Valuyev into custody for two months, that is, until December 12," she said on Thursday.

The decision was made by the court on October 14, she said.

Valuyev is charged with the commission of a crime enshrined by Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code. The man is facing 12 to 20 years in prison if convicted of the charge.

The court said it cannot disclose other information on the case as it is labelled "classified." The court hearing was held behind closed doors.
