Moscow, Tehran confirm adherence to JCPOA - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Moscow and Tehran have held consultations in Moscow, emphasizing their commitment to preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and de-escalating the situation in the Persian Gulf region, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov held consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi on Thursday. "The sides had an extensive exchange of views concerning the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website.

"Both sides reiterated their continued commitment to the full implementation of the comprehensive agreements of 2015 and to strictly observing obligations under the JCPOA having regard to a verified balance of interests and the reciprocity principle, on which the Plan of Action is based," it said.

The sides "emphasized their mutual commitment to preserving the agreements and supporting constructive initiatives and efforts aimed at maintaining the integrity and long-term sustainable implementation of the JCPOA, as well as to de-escalation in the Persian Gulf region," the statement said.
