SOCHI. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted the significance of cooperation between special services of Russia and Mauritius in fighting terrorism.
"There has been an active dialogue between our ministries and agencies. This year the head of a counter-terrorism division attended the 10th international meeting of high-level representatives in charge of these issues. We spoke a lot about the fight against terrorism during two sessions today. I think that such cooperation between special services is of high significance for all," Putin said at a meeting with Mauritius' acting President Paramasivum Vyapoory on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa forum on Thursday.
Vyapoory, in turn, said that he highly appreciates Russia's support for Mauritius' efforts to establish its sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago, which is at the center of a dispute between the United Kingdom and Mauritius.
"We already said earlier that we highly value Russia's support [for efforts] to establish our sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago. However, the situation has not yet been settled completely. [...] We highly value Russia's commitment to international law," he said.
Vyapoory also informed Putin about his country's recent vote on a counter-terrorism law.
"We realize this threat and are introducing special measures of control," he said.
