MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The Pentagon wants to send extra forces to northwestern Syria to prevent the petroleum facilities located there from coming under the control of Damascus as their lawful owner, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee Kostantin Kosachyov said.
"Naturally, it is being done under a good pretext, 'to prevent the oil deposits from falling into the hands of ISIL [banned in Russia] and other sides destabilizing the situation.' The modest mention of some 'other sides' after ISIL betrays the true purpose of this maneuver: to prevent the transfer of important revenue facilities to under the control of their only legitimate owner, the Syrian state," Kosachyov wrote on Facebook.
