WASHINGTON DC. Oct 28 (Interfax) - U.S. President Donald Trump has kept all of his election promises but the one to get along with Russia, and this is the right moment to do so, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said in the Bolshaya Igra program of Channel One.
"In my opinion, Mr. Trump has kept all of his election promises but the one to get along with Russia. I believe this is the right moment to focus on the issue," Antonov said.
Russia-U.S. relations are not so bad, he added.
"We have lately established some contacts on a serious level. For instance, we have resumed counterterrorism consultations, and strategic stability consultations are also being held. We are participating and helping the United States solve problems of the Korean Peninsula. Our representatives are closely interacting in the issue of Afghanistan," Antonov said.
Russia "is destined to cooperate [with the United States] in fighting terrorism," Antonov said.
"This is the main threat to security of the United States and Russia. Everything depends on us. We are prepared for pragmatic interaction based on mutual respect," he said.
