There's no military solution to Syrian issue - Kuwaiti FM

BAKU. Oct 28 (Interfax) - Kuwait welcomes the establishment of the Constitutional Committee of Syria and stands for the peaceful settlement of the Syrian issue, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah said.

"There is no military settlement to the Syrian crisis. We welcome the efforts, the resolutions of the United Nations on the Syrian crisis. We also welcome the establishment of the Constitutional Committee, which is to convene on October 30," Al-Sabah said at the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku on Saturday.

Kuwait condemns any actions that violate Syria's territorial integrity, he said.

He also called for active efforts in the settlement of the Palestinian issue.

"Israel's one-sided stance and the steps it takes violate the objectives and principles of international law. Israel has been ignoring the resolutions of international organizations, including the UN, and the Palestinian people are suffering grave consequences as a result," he said.

Kuwait is a supporter of the implementation of the Stockholm agreements on the conflict in Yemen, he said.
