U.S. notifies Belarus of plans to deploy more troops near its borders - BelTA

MINSK. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Washington has informed Minsk of its plans to deploy extra military forces near Belarus's borders as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve and the Defender-Europe 20 multi-national exercise, the Belarusian state news agency BelTA said.

Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Stanislav Zas received U.S. Charge d'Affaires a.i. Jenifer Moore at the U.S.' request on Tuesday, it said.

The two discussed aspects of Belarusian-U.S. interaction and addressed problems of international and regional security in the context of the plans to deploy extra U.S. military contingents near Belarusian borders, it said.

"The American side has informed us in detail of the plans of Operation Atlantic Resolve and the Defender-Europe 20 exercise, the composition and strength of the forces and resources to be engaged in them, and the dates by which they should be returned to their permanent bases," it said.
