Turkey trusts Russia but not U.S. regarding withdrawal of Kurds from border - Cavusoglu

GENEVA. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Ankara trusts Moscow but not Washington regarding the withdrawal of Kurdish armed groups from the Turkish-Syrian border, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, Cavusoglu said Ankara trusts Moscow on the matter. "We assume that this activity is aimed at achieving peace and ensuring Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.

Cavusoglu said he could not make the same judgments about the activities the U.S. is pursuing at the border, and so Turkey cannot trust Kurdish units because of Washington, either.
