U.S.' threats do not scare Cuba, Russia - Diaz-Canel

NOVO-OGARYOVO, Moscow region. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The United States' threats have no influence on Havana's and Moscow's positions, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said.

Meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, Diaz-Canel said "the Russian top leadership visited Cuba at a difficult moment, amid the escalation of the U.S.' aggression against Cuba."

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Cuba in early October "has taught the world a lesson that Russia's and Cuba's positions remain unchanged under the U.S.' threats," he said.

"In our routine activities and in our feelings, we have moments devoted to Russia every day, chiefly because we are very closely following and looking at Russia's growing role in breaking the superiority that the U.S. is trying to impose," he said.

Putin said in reply that Russia and Cuba are actively cooperating and supporting each other on the international arena. "Russia has always liked Cuba's independent position and sovereign policy," he said.
