Sochi memorandum being implemented with difficulty but this is only way to keep Syria's sovereignty - Shoigu

BAKU. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The Russian-Turkish memorandum regarding Syria, which the two chiefs of state signed in Sochi, is being implemented with difficulty, but this is the only way to keep Syria's sovereignty, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"There have been some problems in implementing the memorandum signed by the presidents of Turkey and Russia but, as we can see, this seems to be the only way to bring peace and to preserve Syria's sovereignty," Shoigu said at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday.

"Russia has gained huge experience of fighting international terrorism," he said.

"We are ready to share this experience with our colleagues. This includes aspects of the fight against international terrorism, humanitarian assistance, such as demining and medical aid, and lots of other issues," Shoigu said.
