Syrian militants continue violating ceasefire in Idlib de-escalation area - Russian military

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Illegal armed groups carried out 16 shell attacks on several populated localities in Syria's Idlib de-escalation area on Wednesday, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Maj. Gen. Yury Borenkov said on Thursday.

"Militants of illegal armed groups have delivered shell attacks on the populated localities of Sabiqiya, Makanis al-Duwairi, Mansura, and Vrede in the Aleppo governorate; Sanjeqa, Safsafa, Chequrjak, Jubb al-Mgara, Reiset-Iskander, and Sirmaniya in the Latakia governorate; Zaituna, al-Hiara, Han-Sheihun in the Idlib governorate; Huaiz in the Hama governorate," the general said.

The Russian Reconciliation Center urges commanders of illegal armed groups to end armed provocations and pursue the peaceful settlement of the crisis in the regions controlled by them, he said.

The Russian side has carried out a humanitarian operation, during which local residents in need were handed out 500 food packages weighing a total of 2.45 tonnes in the populated locality of Danha in the Homs governorate over the past 24 hours, Borenkov added.
