MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Russia is urging the domestic policy entities in Iraq to exercise restraint amid the ongoing mass protest demonstrations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Haidar Mansour Hadi.
During the meeting on Friday, the Iraqi ambassador extensively informed the Russian diplomat of the domestic political situation in Iraq amid the protests, the ministry said.
"Russia expressed its unvarying support for calls for restraint and the Iraqi leadership's efforts toward the soonest possible resolution of the country's socioeconomic problems," it said.
