Minor changes made to route of Russian-Turkish patrol, mission accomplished - Russian military police

KOBANI, Syria. Nov 5 (Interfax) - The Russian military police and the Turkish border guard service on Tuesday performed a patrolling mission near the northern Syrian town of Kobani south of the Turkish border as planned, though with minor adjustments, Russian military police officer Ivan Zhukov told reporters.

The Russian-Turkish patrol comprised four armored vehicles from each side and ran a distance of 70 km. "The patrol took place at the Aylisher checkpoint. We held short talks to set the procedure for communication and movement. The patrol ran smoothly. We reached the turning point, turned around, started moving, and passed through all residential localities. I consider that the mission has been accomplished," Zhukov said.

Before beginning the joint patrolling mission, the sides "made minor adjustments" to the travel route, he said.

"The Turks wanted us to turn around [in a new place]. The turnaround had not been planned, so the patrol went along the route that we covered yesterday. We knew the place for turning around. So we traveled along the route that we had already planned," Zhukov said.
