MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The deployment of United States military bases in Syria will create risks of accidental attacks on Syrian and Russian patrols in the region, Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov said.
"Clearly, the United States is convinced that the law is not written for them as an 'exclusive nation' by definition. But besides the purely legal 'inconveniences' there are other dangers. In particular, the risks of accidental attacks on Syrian and even Russian patrols in the region, which, unlike the Americans, are present there entirely legally," Kosachyov told reporters on Wednesday, commenting on the reports on plans to build U.S. military bases in Syria.
"A military attack on representatives of the lawful authorities on their lawful territory will be purest, not hybrid, aggression. And if, God forbid, there are casualties or escalation of the conflict, responsibility for this will rest fully with the military 'oil protectors' from the U.S. who have no business being there, legally or politically," he said.
