Intergovernmental commission discussing prospects of Russian-Indian military-technical cooperation in Moscow

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The Russian-Indian intergovernmental cooperation on military and military-technical cooperation will determine the priorities for the near-term perspective, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday.

"Today's meeting is being held in a new format: we are discussing issues relating to interaction in the military and military-technical spheres. We will sum up the results of our joint activities for the past period and will state the priority tasks in the protocol drafted by our experts," Shoigu said while opening the meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

India is a key partner of Russia in the military and military-technical spheres and the relations between the countries are strategic, he said.

"We just had a substantive conversation with the defense minister of India and we discussed issues that present mutual interest. Such meetings have become a good tradition before plenary sessions of the commission," Shoigu said.
