MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The appointment of Andrei Kelin as Russia's ambassador in London has no relation to the domestic political processes in the United Kingdom, particularly the election campaign, and the new ambassador's work there will not be easy, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"The appointment of heads of diplomatic missions is never related to the host country's domestic political agenda. There is no and can be no such relation this time, either," Peskov told journalists on Wednesday when asked whether there is any relation between the ongoing election campaign in the UK and the posting of a new Russian ambassador in London at the same time.
"This is one of our brilliant diplomatic stars," he said. "Just like any ambassador, his primary job is to facilitate the development of relations between his country and the host country. This is not an easy task for a Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom," Peskov said.
