MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Russia is not planning to interact with the United States on ensuring the safety of oil production in eastern Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said on Wednesday.
"We won't interact with the Americans on the issue of Syrian oil," Vershinin said when asked by journalists to comment on reports that U.S. President Donald Trump approved the reinforcement of the U.S. military mission to protect the oilfields in eastern Syria.
The matter concerns the "national heritage of the entire Syrian nation," Vershinin said. "We are convinced that it is the Syrian people who should have control over their natural wealth, including oil," he said.
