Iran's steps to reduce commitments under JCPOA in line with NPT, Additional Protocol to IAEA Safeguards Agreement - Lavrov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - None of the steps Iran is taking to reduce its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) concerning its nuclear program are in breach of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) or the Additional Protocol to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) Safeguards Agreement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday.

"I'll point out that Iran is taking all of its steps to reduce the said commitments with the IAEA's notification and in the presence of IAEA inspectors, without in any way violating the provisions of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the provisions of the so-called Additional Protocol to the Safeguards Agreement," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

In announcing reducing its commitments under the JCPOA, Iran has stressed each time that these decisions are reversible, he said.
