CHISINAU. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) approves Chisinau's and Tiraspol's intentions to continue the dialogue in efforts to resolve the Transdniestrian problem, and highly praises the agreement between the negotiating parties to remove technical barriers to trade.
Moldova and Transdniestria agreed to remove technical barriers in trade and sign a relevant protocol decision, which "will give a renewed impetus to working groups and drive the settlement process forward," the OSCE Mission to Moldova said following the 8th Bavaria Conference on confidence-building measures in the Transdniestrian settlement process that ended in Murnau am Staffelsee on Tuesday.
Experts from the working groups and political representatives from Moldova and Transdniestria discussed concrete reciprocal steps to address issues in the areas of education, freedom of movement, economy and trade, the statement reads.
"Focus on the result-oriented approach will move Chisinau and Tiraspol closer to the long-term goal of finding a final solution to the Transdniestrian issue," head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch said.
A two-day conference on confidence-building measures in the Transdniestrian settlement process "offered an informal platform for in-depth exchanges between representatives from the Republic of Moldova and Transdniestria on the ways to move forward with the outstanding priorities from the "Berlin-plus" package and beyond," according to the statement.
As previously reported, at the conference the sides again failed to approve the protocol following the Bratislava talks. A round of talks, which took place in the Slovak capital on October 9-10, ended without signing the final protocol.
