DUSHANBE. Nov 7 (Interfax) - A militant attack on the Ishkobod border outpost in Tajikistan has killed five personnel of the Tajik security forces; the authorities had earlier reported two fatalities, Radio Ozodi, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Tajik Service, said.
Militants who attacked the outpost in the early hours of November 6 killed four border guards, including the deputy border post commander, and one police officer. The bodies of all the deceased were buried on November 6-7, Radio Ozodi said, citing its own sources.
No official Tajik agencies have commented on the report so far.
Only the press centers of the Tajik Interior Ministry and of the border guards department at Tajikistan's State Committee for National Security reported on the attack.
The State Committee for National Security's border department said in its statement that the attack was carried out by militants from Islamic State (ISIL, banned in Russia), who had illegally entered Tajikistan from Afghanistan.
"At night on November 3, the terrorists illegally crossed the state border near Qalay-I-Zal [Qalay-I-Zal district in the Kunduz province] in Afghanistan on a special mission and entered the territory of the Qabodiyon district of Tajikistan. They chose the Ishkobod outpost as the most convenient position and began shooting," the statement said.
The attackers seized five Kalashnikov assault rifles, it said.
"Fifteen militants were killed and another five detained in a security operation," the statement service said.
Meanwhile, the Tajik Interior Ministry reported the detention of four militants. Four motor vehicles of the terrorist group were destroyed during the operation, it said.
