MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The big Project 23370G modular hydrographic catamaran Mikhail Kazansky is completing the sea phase of the state trials in the Gulf of Finland, Capt. 1st rank Igor Dygalo, an official with the information and mass communications department of the Russian Defense Ministry for the Navy, said.
The catamaran "will be provided to the Russian Navy before the end of November," he said.
"The uniqueness of the big hydrographic boat Mikhail Kazansky consists in the catamaran structure of its hull, which made it possible to considerably increase the useful area of the deck to place hydrographic equipment," Dygalo said.
There are plans to build three big hydrographic boats of this project for the Hydrographic Service of the Russian Navy before the end of 2020, he said.
Project 23370G hydrographic boats are intended for buoy and hydrographic work, the delivery of maintenance personnel, repair teams, food, fuel and other cargoes to coastal sites.
