Beijing to view U.S. missile placement near Chinese borders as security threat - Chinese Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - China will treat the deployment of U.S. intermediate-range missiles "on its threshold" as a threat to its national security and the Chinese nuclear forces, Director-General of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Department of Arms Control and Disarmament Fu Cong said.

"We have [intermediate-range] missiles in our territory. And the United States is announcing the deployment of its intermediate-range missiles in the proximity of China, on our threshold, and this will immediately pose a threat to our valuable and important platforms and sites. This will pose a threat to the survivability of the nuclear forces of China," he said at the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference on Friday.

"This is a provocative, destabilizing action," Fu said.
