MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Other nuclear-weapon states could join talks on nuclear disarmament if the United States and Russia continue to reduce their arsenals, Director-General of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Department of Arms Control and Disarmament Fu Cong said.
"The New START Treaty between the U.S. and Russia should be extended. We're calling on these superpowers to continue to reduce their nuclear weapons - nuclear weapons that are both deployed and in their arsenals," he said at the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.
"This will create conditions for other nuclear-weapon states to join this process and talks on nuclear disarmament," he said.
U.S. President Donald Trump said many times earlier that Washington would like to sign an arms control agreement with Russia and China. Beijing, in turn, refused to discuss these initiatives.
