No date for Normandy-format summit yet, may be held before end of 2019 - Kremlin aide

MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax) - A Normandy-format summit might be held before the end of 2019, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said.

"I think, of course, this summit will be held, without a doubt. I think this year," Ushakov told journalists at a news briefing on Monday.

Preparations for the summit are under way, he said.

"Active conversations on this account have been taking place between the relevant aides and between the leaders over the phone. [Russian President Vladimir Putin] will bring this matter up with [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel today," Ushakov said.

In commenting on Ukrainian media reports saying that the summit might be held on November 24 or 26, he said no specific dates had been discussed as of yet.

"November 24 and 26 have not been discussed as possible dates of the summit. No specific dates have been discussed at all," Ushakov said.

"The possibility of holding a summit as such has been considered so far. I don't know who is naming these dates, but they haven't been discussed at my level," he said.

There has been some progress in preparing the summit, including the adoption of the so-called Steinmeier formula, the coordination of a draft of a final document, and disengagement in the combat area in Donbas, and all of this will be taken into account in preparing for the summit, Ushakov said.
