MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has uncovered about a million violations in the defense and industrial sector over the last two years, head of the agency's department for supervision of enforcing the legislation on the state defense sector Oleg Aleksandrov said.
"About 900,000 law breaches in the sphere of the defense and industrial sector have been exposed over the last two years. About 20,000 orders were issued to remove violations, more than 1,000 criminal cases were opened," Aleksandrov said at a conference devoted to procurements in the defense and industrial sector on Tuesday.
Over 9,000 officials were brought to administrative liability for violations of state contracts, he said.
"The main part of violations that have been uncovered falls on the procedure of carrying out biddings and honoring competitive procedures," Aleksandrov said.
Over 12 billion rubles have been recovered for the state owing to the actions of the Prosecutor General's Office, he said.
"Multiple cartel conspiracies of product suppliers as part of the defense and industrial sector" were exposed, Aleksandrov said.
"Numerous cases were uncovered of cartel collusions in the area of selling non-core assets. An inspection in a state corporation revealed an instance of sale at the understated price of 100% of shares of its subsidiary, which owned real estate facilities in Moscow," he said. In that case, the price of assets was reduced four times from 2 billion rubles to 450 million rubles, Aleksandrov said.
