MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - A third man has been detained on suspicion of threatening a Moscow City Court judge with murder, Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said.
Sergei Polovets, who was apprehended and questioned at the Investigative Committee in the same case on Tuesday, provided testimony, helping the investigators to identify one more suspect, Petrenko said.
"Owing to the assistance that Polovets provided to the investigation, another suspect, Yevgeny Yerzunov, was detained while attempting to fly abroad from Vnukovo Airport. After conducting the necessary investigative procedures, the investigation intends to indict the said person under Russian Criminal Code Article 296 (threat of murder)," she told Interfax on Wednesday.
"In providing his testimony, Polovets informed the investigation about his acquaintance, the actual author of the post, exposing the latter as someone who committed an unlawful act," Petrenko said.
The Investigative Committee reported earlier that it had detained two people in a case opened into publication of Internet posts publicly calling for extremism and threatening to kill a Moscow City Court judge.
The first suspect detained in the case was identified as Alexei Veresov, born in 1973 and having a previous criminal record. The investigation also concluded that Polovets, born in 1978, committed offences covered by Part 1 of Article 296 in the same case.
